Sticking To New Year Resolutions!
New Year Resolution
Getting fit and feeling good is the number one resolution. However over 70% of these resolutions last only for a short time. In my own opinion I think fitness resolutions aren’t made ‘right’ which makes them uninspired and hard to stick to.
Here are 8 tips to choosing the perfect resolution, one that is easy to follow and easier to stick to.
Tip 1 – Be Specific.
Many of us say we want to lose weight and get in shape but without an exact goal your resolution is unreachable. The more specific the better.
Tip 2 – Make it measureable.
If you are setting specific goals, they will most likely be measurable. “Get in better shape” needs to have some type of metric to measure your progress to make sure you are realizing your goals. Maybe the metric is your weight, your body fat percentage, or your ability to complete a certain number of reps of a given exercise.
Tip 3 – Make it Attainable.
A goal that is unable to reach will be demoralizing and uninspiring. So make your resolution attainable.
Tip 4 – Be Realistic.
The worst thing you can do is set yourself a goal that is unachievable. By doing so your setting yourself up for disappointment.
Tip 5 – Make it time bound.
Put a specific date that the resolution must be attained to create a sense of urgency, such by making the goal within less than a year, maybe it’s 2-3 months. Without a deadline, you won’t have any time pressure to help propel you into action.
Tip 6 – Identify Why?
Changing our bodies for the better is tough so identify why you want it to change and remind yourself of this reason often.
Tip 7 – Write it down.
Writing down your goals forces your subconscious mind to focus on your goals, which encourages action.
Tip 8 – Take Action.
The last tip is to take action for your resolution. Get a gym membership or personal trainer or create your own programme and work hard!
